It’s one thing to ride around for a few quickie motorcycle rides over a weekend with an experienced rider, getting a little happy on. It’s quite another to decide to toy with starting down a similar path yourself. I’d been recounting the thrill of the weekend with David. I’d poked around on the internet to find some classes. Just dabbling ’round the edges of this thing!
Sooo, what’d my baby get me for my impending bday gift?? lol – oh, this one I was actually hesitating to share. I’d given more than a few people my disclaimer before telling them what he’d done…
The guys in my life have always been a big influence on my life – my dad, my guy cousins, my hottie guy-guy hubby, various and sundry friends that have passed through my life. I have to acknowledge, I probably should have been a boy, b/c I just LOVE to get muddy, dirty, sopping wet, push my limits, frighten myself a little bit on a regular basis.
I admit that I take a skosh ‘o pride in the hot bullet casing scar on my right bicep I wound up with b/c I refused to flinch when the approximately 300 degree shell rolled up against my arm. I count the bruises that brand me after a particularly good adventure. I don’t see the point in spending $ on manicures b/c I’ll just be scraping the dirt out from under the jagged edges of my nails by the end of the weekend.
And, I love to learn how to do new things, pushing myself just a little bit and a little bit each time, stretching out my comfort zone to encompass more with each pass.
Now, having said allllll that… my super-supportive man just got me signed up for taking the Tennessee motorcycle safety course at Chattanooga State Community College – and lo and behold, it’s ON my actual birthday. Giddy/nervous!! Thank you, Baby!!
Lessons: Taking that first step allows you to get started on a new endeavor without throwing yourself into too much stress, so long as you remind yourself that you only need to do this one next thing. You don’t have to go past this one thing if you don’t want to.
