I was told, by a friend, that if I got a break in the January Ohio weather, to “ride it like ya’ stole it!” And, I did!! for 5 breathtaking hours this afternoon!! Evvie, that girl, she hits 75 without skippin’ a beat, gigglin’ her ass off the whole way!!

Today, I got a newfound appreciation for the state that I’m usually just trying to bolt from as fast as I can…

I went on a treasure hunt, headed delightfully, aimlessly… wherever!! Lovin’ alllllll those wide open spaces, itti bitti back roads, slowing down to take in the vast stubble covered fields, grain silos in tiny, off-the-map towns, the kitty watching me pass (or was I watching her?) from her perch on the moss-covered, weather-curled shake shed shingles of a forgotten out-building. Even lucked out and found a couple of covered bridges along the way.
And of course, even loving the unexpected highwater adventure down a windy 3/4 lane, tree-lined road that quickly brought me to the… END of the road!! trying to figure out how to get my (or is it David’s??) tippy bike turned around, on an incline, and out of there!!

I stopped, turned off the bike, took a slow, steadying couple of breaths, reminded myself to calmly figure out what I was going to do next. With the kickstand down, just in case I needed to rest the bike on it, I slowly maneuvered her, first forward, then back, until I had us both heading uphill, in the right direction. I turned her on, deliberately found the friction zone on the clutch, rolled on a little gas, and off we went!
All the experience I’ve been accruing opens up the next round of opportunity!
Insanely awesome day!!
